There has been a drop in the number of online gamblers lodging complaints
about bonus issues. So says the industry watchdog group, eCOGRA's Fair Gaming
Advocate, Tex Rees, in the half yearly report that tracks reports that it
handles.

"The indications are that the decrease in bonus complaints has been primarily
the result of greater care in the construction of promotional offers by eCOGRA
accredited operators," noted the Fair Gaming Advocate. "This has been an area
that eCOGRA review teams have stressed to operators is of significant
importance."
All in all, eCOGRA received 439 complaints in the first six months of the
year. Out of these, 40 were rejected outright as they did not concern gambling
operators that were covered by the watchdog group, while another 57 were thrown
out for being "invalid".
Out of the remaining 342 complaints, the resolution was in favor of the
player in 186 of these cases. Out of these, 68 involved bonus issues, with cash
in problems being the main complaint.
Rees said that there was an increase in complaints regarding locked account,
but it was believed this was due to the fact that eCOGRA operators were taking
more steps than in the past to secure their sites against fraud.
"The increase in locked accounts can probably be attributed to the
introduction by many eCOGRA operators of more sophisticated anti-fraud and
anti-collusion measures," said Rees.
