Thanks to the advent of smart mobile phones, i.e. phones that can connect to the
internet, more and more people around the world are starting to use their phones
as mobile one-stop-shops.
This means not only can they make and receive traditional phone calls, but they
also send and receive texts, make and receive video calls, take and receive
photos and videos, send and receive emails, surf the internet, play interactive
games, and now also gamble on their smart mobile devices.
It's no secret that an increasing number of gambling fans are opting to gamble
on their smart phones, because it means they can gamble from just about anywhere
that can pick up 3G, while they're on the go. No longer do they have to trek
down to their local sports book, poker hall or casino to place a bet or two or
to spin a reel.
Mobile Gambling is the Future for Gambling Fans
In fact, no longer do people have to rely on traditional online gambling methods
to get their adrenalin fix. Smart phones have come such a long way in such a
relatively short period of time, that there is no doubt that many traditional
online gambling sites will eventually fall by the wayside as mobile gambling
becomes the way forward for all gamblers.
It is precisely for this reason that most leading online gambling sites have
launched mobile gambling facilities - or are in the process of launching - which
although on a far smaller scale than their traditional online counterparts, are
evolving as smart phones continue to get 'smarter', faster and more reliable,
and as new and improved mobile gambling apps are released.
But mobile gambling was not an overnight success. When the very first mobile
gambling applications were launched by a few sportsbetting firms and other
online gaming operators, they accounted for a very small percentage of the
operators' revenue stream as they were considered a 'novelty' by the handful of
gamblers willing to try them out.
However, back then - and I'm just talking about a few years - the true potential
of smart phones was yet to be realised, and once Apple launched its now iconic
iPhone, Blackberry honed its models and Samsung's Galaxy took the world by
storm, it was game on.
Now it became a matter of taking mobile gambling to the next level by developing
the best apps.
And nowhere in the world has this been more prevalent than in the UK, where
mobile gambling has become big business. As proof of this, most of the UK and
Ireland's top land and online sportsbooks have their own mobile gaming
facilities.
Betfred Launches State-of-the-Art Mobile Gambling Site
The most recent example of this is Betfred, one of the UK's biggest independent
bookmakers, which this month launched a state-of-the-art mobile gambling site
with both casino games and sports betting facilities. Betfred's mobile casino
games include Jacks or Better video poker, Rainbow Riches slots, Monopoly
Multiplier, Cleopatra slots, and 20+ Blackjack.
But mobile gambling is also
evolving thanks to world leading social networking sites like facebook. Thanks
to a host of popular mobile apps, members can enjoy 'play money' games on
facebook, and it's just a matter of time before those games become available in
real money versions.
Although, how countries with current online gambling bans will deal with that
eventuality, remains to be seen.
