Bolton Wanderers Overview
Bolton
Wanderers FC is a professional English
football club that has the distinction
of spending the most number of seasons
(over 70) in the nation's top flight
(the English Premier League) without
once becoming league champions. That
said, the club has enjoyed more
successful eras. In the 1920s for
instance, the club won the coveted FA
Cup an impressive three times and
snatched a fourth victory in 1958.
However, thereafter the Bolton Wanderers
- also known as the Wanderers, the
Trotters, the White Men and the Whites -
entered a lean period where they failed
to shine and in 1987 even spent a season
in the Fourth Division. It took the side
15 years to battle its way out of the
doldrums and regain its top-flight
status. Since then it has had a wobbly
season or two, but as of 2001 has
managed to remain in the Premier League.
In the 2004/2005 season, the Wanderers
finished 6th.
The Bolton Wanderers' uniform consists
of white jerseys with navy blue trim,
navy blue shorts and white socks.
Manager
Owen Coyle
was appointed manager of Bolton
Wanderers in January 2010. He took over
from Gary Megson, who managed the team
from 2007 to 2009. However, under
Megson's guidance the team slipped down
the Premier League rankings, which
resulted in him being sacked on December
30, 2009.
Home Ground
Reebok
Stadium located in Burnden Way, Horwich
in Bolton. Has a capacity of 28,723.
