Hull City Overview
Hull City
Association FC is a professional English
football club located in
Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of
Yorkshire. Like many English football
clubs, Hull City - known by its nickname
the Tigers - has a long and varied
history having been founded in 1904.
However, it has never been a top-tier
team until it was promoted to the
English First Division for the 2008-09
season when it won the Championship
play-off final at Wembley Stadium. That
season it finished 17th out of 20 teams,
just managing to escape relegation by a
single point.
Before the 2008-09 season, the highest
Hull City had ever reached in its
history was third place in the 1909-10
season in the English Football League.
And in terms of football tournaments and
competitions, the closest Hull City ever
came to experiencing true glory was some
80 years ago when the side reached the
semi-finals of the 1930 FA Cup. However,
between then and now the club has spent
most of its time floating around in the
'horse latitudes' of English football.
The Hull City uniform consists of an
amber jersey with black stripes, black
shorts and amber socks with black
stripes.
Manager
Nigel Pearson is the current manager of the Tigers. He previously managed Southampton, Leicester City and Carlisle United. He enjoyed a moderately successful footballing career which included playing for Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.
Home Ground
Hull City
plays out of KC Stadium in Hull, East
Riding of Yorkshire. It has a capacity
of 25,404.
