The Italian Serie A system system in its current format has been in place since the 1945-46 season. Each of the twenty teams play each other home and away, totalling 38 games for each team during the course of the season. The first half of the season is called the andata, and the second half is called the ritorno.
Serie A boasts three of the world's biggest and most famous clubs in Juventus, Milan and Internazionale, all founding members of the G-14 (a group representing the largest and most prestigious European football clubs). Italy has the most clubs of any nation in the G-14. With the size of these three clubs, it comes as little surprise each year when they are among the favourites to win the Serie A outright. Not only has Juventus won the Serie A more than any other club, they are also the only club in the world to have won all official club competitions.
Below is a table summarising the most wins and second position by Club since 1929.
