It is all fine and well to know the basic rules of Caribbean Poker, but if
you are not familiar with the terminology of the game then you may find yourself
feeling a bit lost. These are mostly only poker and casino terms used in the
games.

Ace - King hand |
High card hand rank. It is the lowest hand rank that the dealer plays with. |

Ante |
The initial bet a player must make before the dealer distributes the cards. |
|
Call Bet |
Bet placed when a player has received his cards, must be twice the ante bet. |
|
Deal |
The dealer deals 5 cards to each player at the table and then deals
him/herself 4 cards face down and one card face up. |
|
Collusion |
This when players work together. Collusion is expressly forbidden in
Caribbean Stud Poker. |
|
Dealer |
The person who deals the cards and is the players only opponent in Caribbean
Stud Poker. |

Four of a kind |
A
hand with four cards of the same rank. |
|
Full House |
A
hand with three of a kind and one pair. |
|
Flush |
A
hand when all five of your cards are of the same suit. |
|
Garbage Hand |
Refers to a non-qualifying hand. |
|
House Edge |
Refers to a bet the house expects to win. |
|
Pair |
A
hand with two cards of the same rank. |
|
Progressive Jackpot |
This is when a jackpot adds up as players contribute before each hand. |
|
Push |
This is when a player neither wins nor loses his bet. |
|
Raise |
The bet/raise is double the ante. |
|
Royal Flush |
A
hand with Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten, all of the same suit. |
|
Straight |
A
hand with five cards of any suit in a sequence. |
|
Straight Flush |
A hand with five cards of the same suit in a sequence. |
|
Toke |
Jargon for a dealer tip |

Three of a Kind |
A
hand with three cards of the same rank. |
|
Two Pair |
A
hand with two cards of one rank and another two cards of an identical rank. |
|
Up card |
This is the card in the dealer's hand turned face-up. |
