Tonight (Thursday, May 3) in the 2011-12 Conference National (Blue Square Bet Premier), English football betting fans can look forward to the highly anticipated second Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-finals between Luton Town and Wrexham.

In the first Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-finals last night (Wednesday), York City and Mansfield Town drew 1-1. So all eyes will be on tonight's big matchup, to see which of the two teams will likely make it through to the finals down the line.

Looking at this evening's Luton Town vs Wrexham Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-final, it won't be lost on football betting fans that these two teams are separated by a massive 17 points in the regular table.

In the pre-season bookmakers were rife with odds as to which of these teams had the biggest chance to be promoted to the Football League.

Luton are Favoured against Wrexham Tonight

And while Luton were posted as the favorites to leave Conference National behind, Wrexham were assigned fairly long odds of 14/1 to pull of the feat. However, between then and now much has changed, and the shoe is now on the other foot, as Wrexham are second in the standings with 98 points while Luton are fifth with 81 points.

Despite this so-called reversal of fortune, management changes in both teams have played a big role leading up to tonight's big game. For instance, when Dean Saunders left Wrexham for the Doncaster Rovers, player Andy Morrell stepped forward to fill his shoes, and has done a pretty decent job judging by the team's standings.

Meanwhile, when Gary Brabin left Luton, he was replaced by Paul Buckle who has proved his worth and then some to the team, by motivating them to win every one of their games leading up to tonight's massive match-up. In fact, many Luton supporters feel that it was Buckle who single-handedly dragged the club into the playoffs.

So, obviously the big Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-finals betting question is which one of these teams will pull off a victory this evening? Well, according to Blue Square, Luton are the 13/10 favourites over Wrexham at 17/10, with the possibility of a draw at 12/5 odds.

Free Prediction: Luton to Win 2-1

But for my Conference National semi-finals betting buck, despite the odds, this match could go either way and a strong play will likely ensure victory just as sloppy play will likely ensure a loss. But for the sake of sportsmanship, if I had a gun to my head I would predict Luton to win 2-1.
