If you're looking for some high octane sporting events to wager on this weekend,
look no further than our Sports Preview for the weekend of August 31,
2012, where you'll find loads to bet on along with some of the most competitive
odds to be found on the internet, kicking off, of course, with football.
UEFA Super Cup Trophy - Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid
Tonight (Friday, August 31), you can enjoy the highly anticipated matchup
between current UEFA Champions League titleholders Chelsea and Europa League
champions Atletico Madrid, live from the Stade Louis II in Monaco. What's great
about the annual Super Cup is that its pits the top teams from two premier
European football competitions against each other, which always makes for an
exciting showdown.
In this, the 37th UEFA Super Cup, most sportsbooks -
including William Hill Online - have posted Chelsea as the slight 6/4
betting favorites over 9/5 Atletico Madrid. However, for our football
betting buck, we see Atletico Madrid as the 2-1 winners.
2012 US Open Men's Matchups
The 2012 US Open from Flushing Meadows is starting to heat up, as the world's
best professional tennis players take each other on in this, the fourth and
final of this year's tennis Grand Slam events, where the kudos of winning a
title far outweighs the hefty cash prizes on offer.
In terms of men's singles
matches scheduled tomorrow (Saturday, September 1), there is no doubt that
tennis betting fans from across the UK will be tuned in to watch Scotland's Andy
Murray take on Spain's Feliciano Lopez at 4 p.m. local time.
Murray (who made it to the Wimbledon men's singles finals this year) is on a
mission to snag his first Grand Slam, and assuming he has sorted out his
inconsistent first serve, should have no trouble dispatching Lopez. William Hill
has laid Murray as the 1/25 odds-on favourite to win over Lopez on 9/1.
US Open Match Bets on Saturday
8/15 Andy Roddick vs Bernard Tomic 11/8
4/9 Mardy Fish vs Gilles Simon 13/8
9/4 Sam Querrey vs Tomas Berdych 1/3
11/4 James Blake vs Milos Raonic 1/4
5/4 Marin Cilic vs Kei Nishikori 4/7
8/15 Jeremy Chardy vs Martin Klizan 11/8
1/25 Andy Murray vs Feliciano Lopez 9/1
1/33 Roger Federer vs Fernando Verdasco 10/1
1/6 Nicolas Almagro vs Jack Sock 7/2
2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 League
The Clydesdale Bank 40 League 2012 semi-finals kick off tomorrow, and cricket
betting fans have their work cut out for them. In the first game, Sussex take on
Hampshire at PROBIZ County Ground, and in the second Lancashire take on
Warwickshire at Old Trafford. (See our featured news story
here
from Friday, August 31 to learn more about these matches).
From a betting
point of view, William Hill has posted Sussex as the betting favourite to win
the 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 League outright. However, for our cricket betting
buck, we predict that Lancashire will win the tournament.
Clydesdale Bank 40 League Outrights
15/8 Sussex
2/1 Lancashire
10/3 Hampshire
7/2 Warwickshire
