Welcome to our Weekend Sports Preview. Cricket betting fans are in for a treat
as the ICC World T20 second semi-final between cricketing powerhouses Australia
and the West Indies kicks off today in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The winner of this
all-important game will face their hosts (Sri Lanka) in the ICC World T20
finals, so expect some nail-biting action to ensue.
2012 ICC World T20 Cricket Semi Finals
The last time Australia faced the West Indies was in the opening game of the
2012 ICC World T20 tournament, with the former coming out tops. In that match,
the strengths of both sides revealed themselves in the form of top scorers Chris
Gayle for the Windies and Shane Watson for the Aussies. And going into today's
ICC World T20 second semi-finals, both of these power batsmen are expected to be
big contributors.
Australia will also likely have the services of bowlers Brad Hogg and Pat
Cummins, and may even feature David Hussey, who has been largely absent in this
event. The West Indies, meanwhile, will look to the talented Marlon Samuels to
keep the team in contention.
From a betting point of view, top-rated Irish land and online sportsbook Paddy
Power has posted the following Australia vs West Indies ICC World T20 second
semi-final odds, which have Australia as the betting favourites:
Australia 4/6
West Indies 13/10
2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Golf
The 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship kicked off yesterday (Thursday,
October 5) at Kingsbarns golf club, one of the three Scottish links courses that
will host many of the world's best professional golfers entered in this year's
prestigious tournament.
Today the action will get underway at the historic Old Course at St. Andrews,
which is widely considered to be the spiritual home of golf. Heading up the
leader board so far is talented South African Branden Grace, who kicked into
high gear from the outset as he finished off yesterday with an impressive
12-under-par 60.
Throughout his round Grace elicited many 'oohs and aahs' from the spectators as
he chalked up six consecutive birdies, hit all 18 greens in regulation, and took
just 26 putts to finish off for the day.
And although there is still plenty of golf to come, Grace is more than capable
of winning this epic tournament judging by his year so far, which has seen him
rack up three wins in the European tour.
