Irish National Lottery Review
The Irish National Lottery is certainly popular with over two thirds of all
Irish adults participating in a wide variety of games. The National Lottery’s
Lotto game had taken quite a hit in recent years due to small jackpots and the
availability of Euro Millions.
However, an increase in the jackpot amount has increased ticket sales at the
3,675 ticket agent outlets located throughout Ireland. Not only are tickets
available at brick and mortar stores, but they are also available online as
well. Over 272 million tickets are sold for the Irish lottery each year with 29
of those tickets creating millionaires in 2008.
The Irish National Lottery’s first game was scratchcards, but it now offers
eight other ways to play excluding game shows. The most popular continues to by
the Lotto game where players play two panels per draw for €3. All prizes are
paid in a lump sum and are tax free.
