The UK gambling industry marked another acquisition deal right at the
beginning of the new year, with news that the local gaming company, NetPlay
TV Plc purchased two sites owned by Zed Worldwide SA, an entertainment
software products developer.
The acquisition is part of NetPlay's continued strategy of expansion that
started last year and looks set to extend to 2009 as well.
Under the new deal, NetPlay TV Plc will purchase VenturyGames.com and
Toucanwin.com from Info-Download Ltd, a unit of Zed Worldwide SA. The two sites
offer mobile gambling and skill games to players and are considered successful
in their own right.
The cost of the deal was said to be £1 million in stock.
According to industry reports, the two sites generate gross monthly revenues
of approximately £500,000. NetPlay TV said that the acquisitions would
contribute greatly to the company's earnings almost immediately.
2.88 million share units (at 26 p each) were issued to Zed Worldwide on the
signing of the deal, and another 961,538 will be issued at the end of March.
The deal also included a sales agreement whereby Zed Worldwide can sell
NetPlay's games to its global clients for two years.
NetPlay TV Plc announced that it had also acquired Grab a Grand, a UK facing
mobile quiz product from Info-Download.
