Betfair Partners with NSW Football Club

The deal is a partnership, not a sponsorship

The unstoppable UK gambling operator, Betfair has proved that no corner of the earth is too far for it to reach, after signing a partnership deal with New South Wales football team, Wests Tigers.

The deal will allow players greater betting options, as they will be able to wager on the outcome of games played by the successful football team.

The Wests Tigers enjoy particular success in Australia, with a fan base of over half a million people. More fans than any other football teams' have turned up to watch the Wests Tigers play in Sydney in the past three years, according to the Roy Morgan Data Company.

Hugh Taggart, speaking for Betfair added: "While the Australian Football League provided the bulk of their business last year, they had more customers in New South Wales than anywhere else in Australia."

The deal, considered to be worth within the six figure range, has been under negotiations for more than a year. The Marketing Director for Wests Tigers, Brett Clarke explained the general character of the deal. "We're in partnership; not sponsorship," he clarified. "We will deliver key marketing objectives. We aren't being promised revenue shares like other clubs. It is a marketing split. We're not relying on the club's supporters to put money into their club via a gambling site."

Betfair, based in Hammersmith, London, is one of the world's largest betting companies, spreading over scores of countries and boasting a client base of over 2 million players. The company has a revenue turnover of over 50 million GBP each and every week, proving to be a very lucrative partners for Wests Tigers.
