It's official: Orange mobile operating company has been shown to be
the top mobile gambling operator in the United Kingdom, following the the
publication of survey results this week.
According to the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association,
Orange earned a staggering 25 percent of all mobile gaming revenue in the United
Kingdom during 2008. In addition, the survey showed that out of all the UK
content providers, Orange accounted for 13 percent of all game downloads.
One of the main reasons for Orange's success is the fact that the company
followed a policy of embedding games in new mobile devices. This offered
customers free demo versions of the games, that they could purchase at a cost if
they so wished. Orange said that over 30% of its revenue was derived this way.
There are currently 15 million Orange users in the United Kingdom.
The Head of Games and Gambling at Orange, Neil Holroyd said about the
results: "We're delighted for taking the top spot for mobile gaming in 2009 and
are already making great strides to make sure we stay there in 2009."
"We're making more enhancements to our embedded games," continued Holroyd,
"and giving our Orange World gaming channel a new look and feel - customers can
look forward to a slicker experience and improved graphics."
Orange forged particularly strong partnerships with software providers such
as Gameloft and Glu in recent years.
