Susan Boyle has been making a sensation ever since she shyly walked on
stage to try out for the competitive Britain's Got Talent Show at the beginning
of April. Exposing herself to potential ridicule from the audience, from the
minute Susan Boyle opened her mouth and sang her piece from "Les Miserables",
people haven't stopped talking.
As with most hot topics which have a potential clear cut outcome, online
sportsbookers around the United Kingdom have been setting odds tables regarding
Susan Boyle's chance of winning the Britain's Got Talent show. Ever since Boyle
appeared on screen on April 11th, bookies have been flooded with bets, and as a
result, the bookies have had to cut odds on her winning, in order to halt
potential losses.
Bookies have been looking desperately for another contestant who would hold
an almost equal chance of winning the show as Susan Boyle, in order to balance
out their odds tables. Last Saturday it looked like their prayers were answered
when shy Hollie from Lancashire sang and danced to the My Fair Lady song "I
Could Dance All Night". After receiving astounding approval from the judges, it
looks like Hollie has a chance against Susan Boyle.
Robin Hutchingson from Ladbrokes said: "90% of bets on the show have been for
Boyle so we've been desperate for someone to take her on. We might have just
found a rival in Hollie who melted the hearts of the judges and the betting
public."
The current odds on Susan Boyle remain at 1/2 and Hollie is listed at 5/1.
There is still a chance that other participants could shake these figures and
the bookies are keeping their eyes on the screen for new challengers.
