The gambling firm, 188Bet is probably best recognized by sports
punters in the Asian market. In fact, up to 80% of the Isle of Man based
company's revenues originate from the ever growing Asian sports betting
industry.
However, 188Bet has been eyeing ways to enter the United Kingdom and European
gaming markets for some time now, and the company seems to have found an
innovative way of doing so.
188Bet said this week that it would become the first gambling company in
history to sponsor two Premier League UK soccer teams at the same time.
From the beginning of the 2009-2010 soccer season, 188Bet will sponsor Bolton
Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, two well performing Premier League teams.
The company believes that having its brand logo displayed prominently on all
adult team members' shirts for the duration of the two year deals will greatly
assist its expansion into the European and UK markets.
The Chief Executive Officer of 188Bet, Andy Scott explained the idea of
sponsoring two soccer teams. "We were looking for a unique opportunity to mark
188Bet's first major foray in the UK market," he said, "and we feel the
collaborative engagement with both Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic shall
help us to further grow the strength of our brand."
