Players at UK gaming operator, Betfair, will be pleased to note that their
favourite site has become a Playtech licensee, meaning that they will soon be
able to benefit from quality games.
Betfair is the latest company to join the Playtech family, joining others
such as Betfred and Paddy Power.
Recently, Playtech signed a joint venture with William Hill which meant that
the software group took a 29% stake in the new online business as a result.
The new deal with Betfair immediately pushed Playtech's shares up
dramatically in London on Tuesday, with the company recording a jump of 10%.
The licensee deal will mean that Betfair will now offer its players bingo for
the first time in the company's history - an acknowledgement of the growing
popularity of this game in the United Kingdom.
While many would also like to see Betfair offer Playtech's quality
poker brand, no confirmation of this has yet been given and it is believed that
the option is still under negotiation between the two parties.
Besides the bingo software, Betfair players will benefit from a wide range of
betting services, as well as casino games.
The Chief Executive of Playtech, More Weizer noted that the deal with Betfair
was "a significant endorsement of Playtech's market leading gaming products and
this partnership exemplifies our strategy of rapidly expanding our licensee
roster... across all markets."
Betfair said that it would continue to offer games from other suppliers such
as Wagerworks.
The site is currently matching first deposits of up to 50 GBP by a generous
100%.
