With the sports betting industry growing in the United Kingdom at an
incredible pace, it comes as no surprise that gambling companies are scrambling
to grab a piece of the market.
The latest company to announce its intentions to make inroads into this
market is Sportingbet.
The company said that it would be adjusting its marketing campaign to ensure
that the average UK punter is well exposed to its brand and name.
At present, it is believed that Sportingbet spends around $100 million
on advertising its products in the European Union.
Executives of Sportingbet said that some of that money would now be diverted
to the UK market so that the group could start competing with some of the big
names in the existing market.
"We are coming from a low base and we can compete with the likes of William
Hill and Ladbrokes," said the Chief Executive Officer of Sportingbet, Andrew
McIver.
McIver is very optimistic that with the right moves, Sportingbet can become a
household name in the sports betting industry in the UK. He said that with the
right type of marketing campaigns, the United Kingdom sector of the group's
business can rise from the present 6 percent to over ten percent in 18 months.
Sportingbet has moved the focus away from poker and is battling to compete
with top casino names in the industry. The group thus feels that more emphasis
on its sports betting products makes sense in the current economic climate.
Sportingbet made a giant leap in the UK industry a little while ago by
announcing its intentions to sponsor the Wolverhampton Wanderers soccer club.
