Online betting group, Betfair is showing true community spirit by
extending its successful Cash 4 Clubs scheme for its second consecutive year.
Last year, Betfair launched Cash 4 Clubs, a scheme supported by SportsAid,
that would essentially earn community sports clubs thousands of pounds in grants
in a bid to promote community sport and a healthier lifestyle.
"The Cash 4 Clubs scheme has proved exceptionally popular in the areas in
which was run last year," commented Betfair's Corporate Social Responsibility
Manager, Georgina Corbett.
All in all, thirty organizations in specific regions in the United Kingdom
benefited from over £30,000 handed over by Befair. This year, the scheme is
opened to all areas across the country.
"Betfair is passionate about supporting grassroots at all levels," added
Crobett, "and so we are delighted to be expanding the scheme nationwide in 2009.
It's a great time to be involved with sport and Cash 4 Clubs can hopefully play
an important role in helping clubs to sustain and develop themselves."
Applications to an independent committee for quarterly grants of up to £1,000
are reasonably simple to make and, once approved, clubs can use the funds to
buy new equipment, improve their facilities and further the interests of the
club and its members.
"New sources of funding are particularly rare in the current financial
climate and we hope that the decision to extend the scheme, when many budgets
are tight, will be a welcome one," concluded Corbett.
