The company behind popular TV shows such as the X Factor and The Price is
Right has joined forces with another media giant to develop online casino games
based on film and TV titles.
Fremantle Media and MGM have brought together their gaming divisions -
Fremantle Media Gaming (FM Gaming) and MGM Interactive - in a joint venture that
will some of the most popular films in history turned into online games.
The groups said that titles such as Fame, Robocop, Stargate and a number of
classic westerns, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, are in the pipeline
to become games in the near future.
The TV and film inspired games will be marketed to global markets, although
players from the United States will not be able to participate for the time
being.
"This deal demonstrates our ambition to become a leading publisher of branded
games in this exciting market," said FremantleMedia executive, Paul Kanareck.
"FremantleMedia recently grew its presence in the broader gaming market with a
minority stake in interactive games developer Ludia, and now we're investing
further into the online gaming sector."
Kanareck continued: "MGM has a fantastic range of movie titles that are known
and loved around the world across generations and we're looking forward to
developing these into great games for online casino operators and their
audiences."
FM Gaming was launched in September last year and has been active in turning
some of its parent group's most sought after TV show titles into successful
online casino games.
