Expanding its presence in the European gaming market, the now Gibraltar based
gaming group, William Hill Online said that it has become the official
club sponsor of the Spanish La Liga team, Malaga CF.
A lucrative three year sponsorship deal was signed between the two bodies,
determining that Malaga will display the William Hill brand on its shirts, and
allowing William Hill to enjoy major brand exposure through marketing and
advertising at the team's home ground, La Rosaleda.
The President of Malaga, Fernando Sanz said: "For our club, this is a great
honour to have been selected by such a well known and respected company as
William Hill. Especially, when this is the company's first sponsorship with such
a high level competition as Primera Division.
Sanz believed that the deal would go down especially well with the expat
communities in Spain. "Malaga has been related for a long time with the British
and Irish communities," he said. "A month ago, our team played against Everton
at Goodison Park and we have also held an Under 21 England National Team Match
in La Rosaleda. With this agreement, we go up one step again in our relationship
with the British community in Costa del Sol."
The CEO of William Hill Online, Henry Birch, joined in the enthusiasm for the
new sponsorship deal, saying: "We are delighted to have come to this agreement
with Malaga FC. Malaga is the closest La Liga club to our business base in
Gibraltar and we really wanted to be involved with a club that we could support
both from a business perspective and in person to share the passion that La Liga
generates."
