Sky Vegas online casino got a strange request from the advertising
watchdog group, Clearcast, to amend its welcome bonus offer that was due to
appear in a TV ad.
Clearcast is a group that is funded by eight UK broadcasters including
Channel Four, Five and Turner. The group's main job is to give the green light
to ads that appear on television by clearing their content.
Sky Vegas was informed by Clearcast that their advertisement for a £200
welcome bonus to their site would need to be changed to reflect only £150.
Sky said in a statement to its affiliates: "The Sky Vegas customer welcome
bonus will change from £200 to £150. Unfortunately, Clearcast have
informed us that we cannot advertise a welcome bonus of more than £150. We
are sorry for the short notice but we were only informed of this decision
today."
A source, who preferred to remain anonymous, questioned the logic in the
Clearcast decision, and said that determining a £200 limit was a precedent in
the history of the watchdog group.
"Other people advertise more than £200 sign up bonuses so it doesn't make
much sense," said the source.
Sky Vegas offers players from around the globe a quality gaming experience,
incorporating several brands such as Sky Bet, Sky Poker, Sky Vegas and Sky
Bingo.
A mobile brand is also available.
Sky Veagas is licensed in Alderney and takes all the necessary steps to
