In a bid to enter the ever growing UK gambling market, Bodog has opened up a
new global press office in London and has chosen a powerful industry executive
to head the new venture.
Bodog hired the former Public Relations Head of Everest European, Ed
Pownall to head the new office in the capital.
Speaking abut the group's move to London, the founder of Bodog, Canadian
billionaire Calvin Ayre, said: "The center of gravity in the Bodog world is
shifting to London, which is the center of the gaming universe right now, and
we're taking advantage of it."
"The UK has completely opened up the global network and London has the
infrastructure to support it," he added.
New Bodog office head, Ed Pownall, takes on his new role with many years
experience in the industry under his belt.
Pownall spent two years at Everest, before which he worked in marketing roles
at Blue Square, Jackpot Joy and Sky Bet.
"The Bodog brand is one of the most recognized in the industry and the job
offers me the chance to work for a brand which is truly global," he said. "Some
gaming brands call themselves global, but I don't think they truly are in terms
of having the presence Bodog has across the world."
Ayre revealed in an interview in June that the global group was considering
opening an office in London.
"London is the business center of the gaming industry and so it makes sense
to position or global press office there," he said.
