This weekend saw one of the most nerve wracking elimination rounds in X
Factor 2009 take place, after a shocked Lucie Jones was sent home.
The sixteen year old Welsh teen's elimination upset many bookies who had her
as favorite ahead of the twin singing duo, John and Edward, dubbed Jedward.
In fact, the entire audience seemed aghast that Jedward secured their place
in the top eight finalists of this year's season, despite the fact that infamous
judge, Simon Cowell, ripped nearly every one of their acts to pieces throughout
the competition and then put them through at the most critical moment.
Cowell was blasted by critics who called his decision "two faced" and based
on financial reasons alone.
Many believed that Lucie Jones had a good chance of making it further in the
competition and the young woman was in tears when she finally learned her fate
at the end of the program.
Betting sites have posted current odds for the outright winner of the
competition, with Paddy Power listing its offerings as follows:
- Olly Murs - 15/8
- Joe McElderry - 3/1
- Danyl Johnson - 10/3
- Stacey Soloman - 9/2
- Jamie Archer (Afro) - 14/1
- John and Edward Grimes (Jedward) - 16/1
- Lloyd Daniels - 50/1
