Earlier this year, Playtech Ltd. was granted a contract to provide a casino
and poker platform to the Serbian Lottery.
On this basis, Playtech decided to apply for membership to the World Lottery
Association (WLA), which serves as an umbrella organization for nearly 150
private and state owned lotteries around the world, in 76 different countries.
This week it was confirmed that Playtech, a software giant that trades on the
London Stock Exchange, has been approved as a member of the World Lottery
Association.
The Chief Executive of Playtech, Mor Weizer, said: "We are very proud
to have been approved as an Associate Member of the WLA. It reflects our strong
focus and experience in regulated markets, not least our work with the various
lotteries which are leading operators and members of the WLA."
"We look forward to contributing to the Association's development in the
future," said Weizer.
By being a member of the WLA, Playtech will be able to have more influence in
the shaping of industry standards for private and stated owned lotteries
operating in global markets.
The 141 lotteries that form part of the World Lottery Association generate
revenues of more than $180 billion annually, and operate off five different
continents around the globe.
"We welcome Playtech as an associate member to the WLA and look forward to
working with them," said the Executive Director of the lottery umbrella group,
Jean Jorgenson.
Playtech joins other top groups in the industry as a member of the WLA,
including Sagem, Intralot, GTech and Betware.
