Ask any online gaming woman from the United Kingdom what her favourite form
of entertainment on the internet is, and the answer will most be probably be
bingo.
It is no secret that the majority of women relish in the community spirit,
easy games and great prizes found at online bingo sites, but new research has
shown that roulette is becoming quite a popular pastime among UK women.
"We all knew that the bingo boom would not last forever and, although I think
it is far from over, I think the cracks are starting to show," said the editor
of a popular roulette portal, liveroulette.co.uk, in the UK.
UK women could be following the trend that players from the US have been
leading for a while now, where roulette is slowly creeping up in popularity to
other games such as bingo.
"Roulette provides women with the chance to win serious cash very quickly, so
it is easy to see what they would be attracted," said the editor. "The birth of
live roulette on television has also prompted interest from women browsing
through the channels and ensures that women feel they are part of something live
and communal much like they get with bingo currently."
It comes as no surprise then that many online bingo sites have increased the
presence of roulette among their side games.
Nevertheless, the portal editor had a word of warning for women - and men -
showing an interest in roulette.
"Although we are relishing the increase of visitors," he said, "a lot of
people do not understand that roulette is a harsher form of gambling and you can
lose a lot more money a lot quicker."
Roulette continues to enter mainstream UK media through live channels on Sky
and Freeview for example.
