The highly popular X Factor finally came to an end, with the natural
winner being Joe McElderry.
The Geordie teen beat strong contestant, Olly Murs in a great finale to a
very successful X Factor season, which enjoyed huge ratings in the United
Kingdom.
McElderry was a firm favourite at sports betting sites across the board and
his win did not come as a surprise to the majority of those who wagered on his
success.
"This is all for my mum," said a very emotional McElderry after being crowned
on Sunday night.
"I want to thank her for everything - and buy her a house," he said. "She
means everything to me and I just want her to know how much I love her. Spending
some money on her is the least I can do."
McElderry was a firm 2/9 favourite to beat 25 year old Olly Murs but he
denied until the end that he was sure that the victory was his.
"Just because everyone was saying it, I didn't think it was going to happen,"
he said.
17 million viewers tuned in to watch the X Factor finals which was considered the most watched finals ever.
