The Arizona Cardinals were involved in one of the wildest NFL playoff games
ever played last week, but even a repeat of their form in that win over the
Green Bay Packers might not be enough to stop the New Orleans Saints from
advancing to the NFC Championship game.
The Saints were all but unstoppable during the regular season and with home
field advantage for Saturday's game against Arizona most bookies have installed
them as prohibitive -7 point favourites against the spread. The line for the
game opened at -6.5 points but a lot of money has come for New Orleans forcing
the spread to move out to the key number of 7.
The Over/Under or total points betting market is also usually very popular with
NFL punters and this number opened extremely high at 56 points. Somewhat
surprisingly money has still poured in for the "Over" leading offshore
bookmakers to increase the number to 57 points, by far the highest of these
playoffs.
The Saints are renowned for a high-powered offense and the Cardinals racked up
more than 50 points on their own last week against Green Bay, so a high total
score could well be on the cards, so to speak.
The game kicks off at 9:30 PM UK time on Saturday night.
