Excitement is mounting for this year's Choice Music Prize, a
competition which selects the best Irish album of the year.
This year's Choice Music Prize will be held in March, and Paddy Power has
opened up a special novelty bet to take wagers on the outright winner of the
competition.
Odds of 3/1 have been offered that the album 'As I Watch you from Afar' by
the group of the same name will win the competition.
Valerie Francis' Slow Dynamo' has odds of 9/2.
The shortlist for this year's Choice Music Prize, an event launched in 2005,
is as follows:
Bell X1 - Blue Lights on the Runway
Codes - Trees Dream in Algebra
Julie Feeney - Pages
Dark Room Notes - We Love you Dark Matter
The Duckworth Lewis Method - the Duckworth Lewis Method
Laura Izibor - Let the Truth be Told
Valerie Francis - Slow Dynamo
And So I Watch you From Afar - And so I Watch you from Afar
Adrian Cowley - The Season of the Sparks
The Swell Season - Scrict Joy
The majority of these acts will play live at the final event in Vicar Street,
Dublin on March 3rd.
The show will be MC'd by Alison Curtis.
