Microgaming software group has announced a lucrative new licensing
agreement that will see slots fans enjoy new games based on the Lord of the
Rings movie trilogy.
Signed with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, the multi year license will
have Microgaming develop a series of games that are not only based on one of the
most well-known tales in the world, but will bring players the last word in
entertainment.
The games promise to be graphically rich and cutting edge, based on the
characters that millions of people around the world got to know through the
three movies, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the
Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Speaking about the plans to release these games, the Chief Executive Officer
of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever said: "We're excited about creating state of the
art video slots from the best movie trilogy of the decade. We look forward to
bringing the Lord of the Rings into the online gaming sphere, where our
expertise in game quality and speed to market will ensure its success."
"The Lord of the Rings has a huge entrenched fan ban base with over 97%
awareness of the film franchise, as well as phenomenal and unprecedented home
video success," said Raatgever.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson, is based on JRR
Tolskien's fantasy epic tales, set in the fictional world of Middle Earth.
The storyline follows the hobbit Frodo Baggins as he sets out to ensure the
destruction of the Dark Lord Sauron.
As such, there is plenty of great material for Microgaming to use in terms of
graphics and themes.
