Cheryl and Ashley Cole are on the brink of making their split official, and
UK bookies are preparing to pay out on the most talked about potential divorce
among celebs today.
After news broke that Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole had been texting
crude messages to women behind his singer-wife's back, Cheryl fled to Hollywood
to remove herself from the limelight.
Unfortunately, for her, more than five women claimed that they had been
Cole's mistress and the cameras followed her to the United States to try and get
a reaction.
Cheryl, however seems to have found comfort in the arms of her close friend
Derek Hough, and she was photographed enjoying a candlelight dinner with him
while in LA.
Sources insist, however, that their relationship is platonic.
Bookies have been offering odds on a potential split between the Coles and
they declared last night that it was "inevitable" that Cheryl would be filing
for a divorce when she returns to Britain.
"In our opinion, it's a done deal and we are happy to hand over winnings
now," said a spokesman for William Hill.
In the meantime, the question remains whether Ashley Cole has lost more than
his wife due to his wild ways.
According to the Daily Mail, Cole may face suspension or a 'meaningful' fine,
after it was claimed that hoodwinked the club into covering up his affairs.
Ashley may be facing the music on Friday when he will be brought before
Chelsea's board to explain himself. Club owner, Roman Abramovich is understood
to be angry that the club's reputation is being dragged through the mud by this
type of philandering.
A club spokesman would not comment on the affair, except to say: "This is a
private matter for Ashley Cole. Where anything is alleged to have happened on
Chelsea FC time is an internal club matter and will be dealt with internally."
