One of the leading casino groups in the United Kingdom, Gala Coral,
published a report that focuses on its corporate responsibility strategy.
The report examines how Gala Coral met its corporate responsibility strategy
in 2009 under the "Our People, Our Places, Our Products" category.
Gala Coral manages to balance its activities across a wide range of products,
both high street and online, in the bingo, bookmaking and casino markets.
The group runs nearly 150 casinos and clubs, 2,000 betting shops in the UK,
more across Europe and a thriving telebet division.
Its remote gambling division covers bingo and casino products.
According to the corporate responsibility report, Gala Coral was extremely
active and managed to achieve a number of important milestones.
The group raised over £1 million for charity, with the majority of the
funds going to its favourite destination, Sue Ryder Care.
Gala Coral staff and customers raised over £100,000 in a unique campaign
to play the world's highest game of bingo on the top of Mount Everest!
Gala Coral is also big on green action and is on its way to achieve its zero
to landfill goal by 2012.
Three million energy saving light bulbs were distributed to UK customers in a
bid to support education on climate change.
In terms of gambling activity, Gala Coral continues to enforce a strict
responsible gambling policy.
Gala Coral is the first gambling group to receive GamCare accreditation
across all its divisions.
