When Wales international midfielder for Arsenal FC, Aaron Ramsey,
broke his leg in a game last weekend, the news hit fans hard.
Chief Executive of the club, Ivan Gazidis, said that the double break had a
"devastating" impact on the club and everyone was hoping that Ramsey would be
back on his feet and out on the field as soon as possible.
In the upcoming game tomorrow, March 6th, Arsenal will meet Burnley without
Aaron Ramsey.
Fans are planning to unfurl a massive banner measuring 18ft by 15ft in
support of Ramsey and have been on a fundraising mission all week long to pay
for it.
The ultimate plan is to have Ramsey sign the banner himself and then give it
to one of the players who donated to the costs.
"It was devastating for the club and I still feel like a little bit of the
heart has been ripped out of the club," said Gazidis. "We're all just thinking
about Aaron and trying to get him back as quickly as we can to health."
The CE said that Ramsay's operation was a success and that he was proud of
the way the club came together during this difficult time.
"I think the best we can do for Aaron would be to win a trophy for him this
year," said Gazidis. "I don't think we need an extra motivation."
So while Arsenal will be entering the match at the Emirates on Saturday
without their powerful midfielder, they may be able to make up for this loss
with the motivation to bring home a victory just for his sake.
