At the end of January 2010, betting on Hollywood's most famous couple was at
its peak.
Rumours were doing the rounds left, right and centre that Brangelina
-Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were ready to split, and speculation was high
regarding Pitt's love life post-Angie.
UK bookies posted odds on whether the couple would make an official
announcement before the end of the year, as well as who Pitt would date after
the split.
Odds were offered on the chances of Pitt running back to his ex, Jennifer
Aniston's arms, with some even coining the new term Branjenlina as a nod to the
complicated love triangle that was supposedly created.
Pitt and Jolie became flustered by the rumours - maybe because they were too
close to the truth, and maybe because they were just false. However, we all know
that - especially in Hollywood - there is usually no smoke without fire, and too
many people are in daily contact with this couple to keep their private life
completely insulated.
The couple recently moved their six-strong baby brood to Venice as Ms. Jolie
completes a movie. The paparazzi is having a field day with the photo ops
presented to them by the couple. Pitt playing the doting dad on a shopping trip
with Zahara and Shiloh, Pitt and Jolie buying ice cream cones with twins Knox
and Vivienne, all six kids attending a birthday party on the Venetian canals.
Analysts cannot be blamed for believing that the family's over-presence in
the tabloids is a calculated move by their publicists to ensure that they are
shown once more to be a loving, happy family.
As such, we are left wondering whether the lull in
betting options at gambling sites is simply the quiet before the storm, until
another rumour triggers Brangelina gambling action once more.
