Ladbrokes is set to provide its players with an even wider range of
gaming opportunities, after announcing that it had joined Microgaming's new
Italian poker network.
The UK bookmaker is the first foreign group to join Microgaming's network.
The software company, keen to get a foot in the door of Italy's lucrative
poker market that is currently worth €3 billion a year, announced the launch
of its new network this week.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ladbrokes Italia, Mattia Nicelli said about
the Microgaming platform: "Microgaming has a proven track record in poker as it
hosts the most established poker network. Our decision to join its Italian
Network is a strategic move that we believe will be of great benefit to our
players."
Nicelli said that, drawing on its wealth of global and local expertise,
together with its technical prowess, Microgaming has adapted its services in a
way that caters to Ladbrokes' specific needs, as the group competes in the
growing Italian market.
"We are confident that this partnership will prove mutually beneficial and
that Microgaming's new venture targeting the Italian market will emulate the
success it has experienced around the world," said Nicelli.
In the meantime, Microgaming is actively seeking new partners to join its
brand new Italian poker platform.
The CEO of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever said that with the Italian market set
to become increasingly open and competitive in the months to come, the group is
confident that it has the right resources and alliances to support its operators
and help them succeed.
"Italy is an important region for the future of gaming in Europe, as it has
set the standard for other countries wishing to introduce gaming regulations; it
is a crucial gateway for further EU expansion," said Raatgever.
