Abba has been voted the pop group that the British would most like to
see perform together once more.
But up until now, the four members of Sweden's most popular export (after
Ikea?) have refused offers to regroup, even for one night.
Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anna-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog still
enjoy royalty fees nearly 40 years after the band was formed in Stockholm, and
new generations know their songs word-for-word.
The four even turned down a whopping $1 billion to do a reunion tour
following the success of the 2000 musical, Mama Mia.
However, some chance comments by Andersson and Ulvaeus in an interview last
week has started a wave of new hope that an Abba reunion could be back on the
cards.
Andersson replied: "Yeah, why not?" when asked if he would be willing to sing
with his ex band members in a performance that would be beamed around the world.
He later said: "It's not a bad idea, actually."
Bookies have tapped into the potential Abba reunion hysteria and have opened
markets on everything related to this big event.
