More people than ever are visiting land casinos in the United Kingdom, it has been revealed in the latest report issued by giant gambling group, Rank.
The company said that a record number of visitors had tried their luck at Rank operated casinos year on year, with a 9% rise year on year.
In the 16 weeks leading up to April 18, the group said that there has been a 7% rise in the number of people visiting casinos.
Recession or not, it seems that UK customers are ready to put their money in the hands of Lady Luck once more and visit one of the country's 143 casinos.
The UK Gambling Commission said the number of people who entered these casinos was at a five year high.
In total, 16,6 million people attended these casinos in the last year alone.
The Chief Executive Officer of Rank, Ian Burke, believes that the casino chain run by the group, G Casinos has the best gambling entertainment available to players seeking the ultimate gaming experience.
"We've tried to turn the casino into a mainstream leisure experience, with food and entertainment as well as gambling," said Burke. "The average spend per head is £30 - 35. We are still seeing strong growth in admissions and it's worked very well for us."
Also drawing the crowds are the casino' recognition of what really appeals to players, such as new low limit poker tournaments that are being run at these establishments on a daily basis. As such, the popularity of poker has taken up even more in the UK.
