Crystal Bowersox, fondly named Mama Sox, is still the firm favourite at bookies across the board to win this year's American Idol song competition.
Season Nine of this record-breaking US show continues to attract millions of viewers from around the world and the UK audience is kept entertained week after week.
Bowersox, an Ohio native, shot back angrily at claims that she attempted to quit the show a fortnight ago, and remains in the top spot to win the competition.
Bowersox leads the other remaining contestants, Lee DeWyze, Siobhan Magnus, Casey James, Michael Lynch and highschooler, Aaron Kelly.
Bookies show that Bowersox and DeWyze have broken from the pack and most predict that they will be in the Top Two position by the end of American Idol.
"The only way Crystal and Lee won't be in the Top 2 this season is if they are carjacked in their Ford Fusion while making a commercial and never heard from again," quipped one US panelist.
But then again, especially with a show like American Idol, nothing is final until the finals.
A Dublin resident gave her two cents and said: "Lee and Crystal seem like shoo-ins but voters are strange sometimes. There are only a couple ways I can see the Top 2 not being Lee and Crystal: (1) if one of the other contestants really starts to 'wow' us next week, or (2) people deliberately vote for the the contestant they think is awful."
Current votes among UK bookies for the outright winner of American Idol as follows:
Crystal Bowersox 8/15
Lee DeWyze 3/1
Siobhan Magnus 8/1
Casey James 8/1
Michael Lynch 16/1
Aaron Kelly 33/1
