Soccer analysts are chuckling at the irony of how this year's Premier League season has turned out. Manchester United's chances of winning the 2009-2010 title lies in the hands of its arch enemy, Liverpool.
For Manchester United to win, Liverpool will need to prevent Chelsea from getting three points.
This season, Liverpool and Manchester United have won 18 English titles. Therefore, if Liverpool loses, the title will most probably go to Chelsea (unless this team messes up on the last day of the season in what should be a predictable win over Wigan Athletic).
On the other hand, Liverpool still hasn't given up hope of ending the season in fourth place, and a good start would be to grab three points in Sunday's match.
Bookies still believe that Chelsea it the favourite to win this season's Premier League, with current odds of 8/15 against Manchester United's 7/5.
Many believe that Chelsea has what it takes to win this season, and the team comes to the game on Sunday with incredible confidence following its stunning victory 7-0 over Stoke City last weekend.
So when it comes down to Sunday's game, both teams have strong motivation and reason to win. The deciding factor will be which team has the best ability.
Odds for Liverpool vs Chelsea Sunday May 2, 2010 as follows:
Liverpool 3/1
Draw 5/2
Chelsea 10/11
