Manchester City are on the brink of playing in the Champions League, and with their nearly limitless budget that could be a mammoth event indeed. But to get there they must first repel the challenge of Spurs in one of the most important English Premier League games in recent memory. If City can win they could well be on their way to becoming the latest European "super club" as a berth on the Champions League stage will surely lead to a frenzy of off-season big name acquisitions.
However a glance at the EPL table shows that it is Tottenham who are still ahead by a single point heading into this match, although they do have a potentially tricky away game at Burnley to finish the season. City have an easier match at home to struggling West Ham on the final day of their season. So there is everything to play for tonight and the bookies have priced up a multitude of betting markets for this mouthwatering game.
This should be a high scoring game and the odds on both teams getting on the scoresheet look enticing at 4/6. Manchester City are obviously favoured to win and the odds on a Spurs victory (14/5) are pretty big, but Tottenham would settle for a draw so we would avoid that bet.
The draw might be the result here, and if you're looking for a value wager how about nibbling on the 13/8 about Adebayor's chances of netting a goal? The lanky African striker owns Spurs and has scored an amazing eight times in his last eight games opposing them. He is also in rich form going into the game with three goals in his previous five starts.
Manchester City play with revenge as Spurs crushed them in their home fixture earlier in the season (3-0 final score), and they are likely to take the game to the visitors, but Spurs have performed remarkably well in the big games this year and cannot be dismissed here.
