Lady Luck is a fickle mistress and when it comes to choosing who to give million pound
UK lottery jackpots to, she is as indiscriminate as a hurricane or an earthquake, which was proved recently after a home-bound granny won £4.5 million.
For 59-year-old gran Pauline Stanley who lives in Churchdown, near Gloucester, life can be difficult as she suffers from panic attacks that have essentially made her a prisoner in her own home as she is too afraid to venture out for fear of having an attack.
So it was with great surprise that Stanley realised recently that she had won a whopping £4.5 million jackpot in the
UK National Lottery. But while such a large windfall would be life-changing for most winners, it will not stop Stanley from staying put.
It seems that the lucky winner, who lives with her 61-year-old husband Barry, is more than happy to remain within the sanctity of her own home, despite having enough money to afford any hotel room, luxury cruise or holiday hotspot anywhere in the world.
However, when quizzed by reporters on what she intends to spend her large UK Lotto pay out on, Stanley revealed that she will be only too happy to spend her winnings on her family, which includes four children, two stepchildren and six grandchildren.
This is the second time this year that Stanley has been visited by Lady Luck. The first time was in February after she suffered from burst stomach ulcers, a potentially life-threatening condition that saw her spend five days in hospital, but make a recovery.
After realising that they had won such a large lottery jackpot, Pauline and Barry celebrated with some KFC. The couple confirmed that they intend to stay in their house in Churchdown, but may construct a conservatory, while Barry is planning to retire.
