In mid April, twelve finalists in the Fame: The Musical competition
began their final battle to reach the lead roles of this production which is set
to kick off nationwide.
The search for Fame stars was launched in January this year and
literally thousands of performers applied. The twelve finalists were chosen from
all those who auditioned in Dublin, Cork and London's West End.
The contestants are now in the process of battling it out at the Helix over
the next few weeks, until finally one male and one female contestant will win
title roles in the show.
One of the most dramatic moments of the show was when one of the finalists,
Susan Hall, stunned the audience and the judges by announcing her intentions not
to proceed.
"I'm very sorry to see Susan leave as I believe she had a real chance of
getting down to being one of the final few girls," said one of the judges,
Robert C Kelly.
The latest finalist to be voted off this week was engineering student, Stuart
Pollock from Rathgar who said after his defeat: "I did myself justice tonight. I
loved every minute and wish all the guys the best of luck."
