Football fans in the Italian city of Milan partied the night away on Sunday after
FC Internazionale Milano or Inter Milan beat Siena 1-0 in the final match of the season to snatch the
Serie A title for the fifth consecutive year.
Much like England's Premier League and Spain's La Liga, this year's Serie A all came down to two teams - Inter Milan and AS Roma. And most Italian football fans were hoping that this year Roma would break Milan's winning streak.
It all came down to the last match of season, where Roma needed a big score against Chievo. And despite making it 2-0 by the whistle, it was just not good enough to surpass Inter, who ended the season with 82 points to Roma's 80.
With this year's Coppa Italia and Serie A titles under their belts, Inter Milan could pull off the first treble in the history of Italian football when they take on German team Bayern Munchen in the final of the 2010 UEFA Champions League.
Scheduled for this Saturday (May 22) at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, the game is expected to be tough, but with its home ground advantage and top form of late, Inter Milan is expected to go into the UEFA final as the favourite.
In fact, leading online sportsbook Ladbrokes.com has Inter Milan at 8/15 odds to win and Bayern Munchen at 7/5 odds to win. Even though the whole of Italy will be rooting for Internazionale, it will still be a bitter pill for Roma fans.
But it isn't all plain-sailing at Inter Casino. The club and its fans were shocked recently to hear that head coach Jose Mourinho is considering leaving the Italian club following the UEFA Champions League final, possibly for Real Madrid.
