After tight competition and flurried betting action at UK bookie sites, the star of the new Wizard of Oz musical was announced this weekend.
Danielle Hope, the 18 year old brunette, beat hundreds of other contestants to star as Dorothy after taking part in BBC's talent show, Over the Rainbow to land her role in Andrew Lloyd Weber's new musical.
Hope beat a very worthy rival, Sophie Evans, with 22 year old Lauren Samuels coming third.
An overwhelmed Hope could not stop thanking the organizers of the show, as well as the public for giving her the opportunity of a life time.
"I really, really don't think a thank you is enough," gushed Hope when finding out that she was the winner. "For the amazing public and everyone who comes to support us every week and the girls. Thank you and it comes from the heart for this amazing opportunity."
Musical maestro, Andrew Lloyd Weber was also clearly pleased with the public's choice.
"I'm really pleased with the result," he said. "You're a fantastic talented kid."
"The nation hasn't got it wrong," he continued. "My goodness me, you can act from the soul, and that's very, very special.
