Divorce Confirmed as Cheryl and Ashley Cole Split

by Anton Johan

Cheryl and Ashley Cole have confirmed their divorce

Legal papers for the divorce between Cheryl and Ashley Cole were filed at the High Court on Tuesday afternoon. Months after rumours of Ashley's cheating were revealed, Cheryl has filed for divorce.

The spokesperson for Ashley refused to comment on the events stating that they were a private affair. Cheryl on the other hand, seems to want to set the record straight. Her PR firm, Supersonic, posted on Twitter that the divorce can be confirmed.

Four months of PR stunts began with a marriage forged by OK! Magazine for a whole bunch of money and has now ended with an announcement on Twitter by her PR agency.

It never seemed like much of a marriage between Cheryl Tweedy and Ashley Cole but they did look good together.

Cheryl's team has claimed that her decision to file for divorce now is to allow Ashley two full weeks to get over it before the beginning of the World Cup.

Cheryl has retained the services of solicitor Joyce Smith who has been involved in other high profile divorces. She represented Ronnie Wood in his split with wife, Jo last year and also Mick Jagger in this split from Jerry Hall.

Ashley claims to be stunned by Cheryl's decision to file papers and is even reported to have said to a friend: "I feel like someone has punched me in the stomach."

Cheryl's mother, Joan and friends, on the other hand, were relieved by her decision.

And now the odds are on at Paddy Power over who Cheryl will date next. Will it be Derek Hough at 10 to 1 odds or Louis Walsh at 500 to 1 odds? You can join the drama, with many choices, by placing your bet now.
