AS Roma lost out for a second straight year to Inter Milan in Italy's Serie A, the club's owners decided that a host of new players is what the team needs which is why they are expected to sign top Brazilian striker,
Adriano.
Despite rumours that Adriano was mixed up with a Brazilian drug gang, he was cleared to leave Brazil last week and this week arrived in Italy, reportedly to meet with AS Roma boss, Rosella Sensi, to discuss his future with the big Italian club.
When Adriano arrived in the country on Monday, Adriano was quoted as saying that he was very happy to be back in Italy. 'I must work very much, do a lot of training and hope that everything goes well. I look forward to playing with Totti (captain).'
The talented striker is no stranger to Serie A, as he was contracted with Inter Milan (Internazionale) from 2001 until 2009. In 2009 he headed back to Brazil to play for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (Flamengo). However, the 28-year-old missed Italy.
Sensi and Adriano's Roma teammates will no doubt be hoping that his personal woes are now firmly behind him. Drug gang rumours aside, the striker reportedly left Inter Milan on account of a host of personal issues, including an alleged drinking problem.
But once the ink of his new contract is dry, Adriano could make his AS Roma debut as soon as August 21, where he'll go up against many of his old teammates in Inter Milan. And how he fits in with his new team will be on the minds of Roma supporters.
Adriano will join fellow Brazilian Ace, Fábio Simplício, who was snapped up by AS Roma a few weeks ago. Set to remain at Roma is Argentinean defender, Nicolas Burdisso, who had an exemplary Serie A season and has proved a great asset in the team.
