UK Bookies Offer Bets on Cameron Baby

by Renee Israel

Odds of 6/1 have been placed that the new Cameron baby will be named Ewen

Last month saw frantic political betting as UK residents went to the polls to vote for their new Prime Minister.

Now that David Cameron and his family are safely established at No. 10 Downing Street, bookies have turned their attention to the upcoming birth of the couple's baby.

Cameron and his wife Samantha lost their six year old son Ivan in 2009, who suffered from a rare combination of cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

In March this year, it was reported that Samantha was pregnant and expecting her fourth child in September 2010.

UK bookies have opened betting markets on the new baby, including its sex, name and even the colour of its hair.

Odds of 5/6 are being offered that the child will be a male, with an equal market on a female.

First choice for a name at odds of 6/1 are Ewen, followed by William (8/1), Ian (10/1) and Mary (10/1).

Even names such as Gordon (as in Brown) at 150/1 and Barack at 500/1 are listed!

Will Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democrats, be the baby's godfather? Bookies have odds of 8/1 that he will.

Black seems to the favourite colour for the new baby's hair (4/6), followed by brown 7/4.

Bookies have listed 'complete bald eagle' as an option (20/1) and even offer odds of 500/1 that the baby will be born with blue hair!

Finally, despite the fact that Mrs. Cameron's growing bump hasn't indicated anything of the sort, a betting market exists on a multiple birth as follows:

Twins 20/1

Triplets 1000/1

Quadruplets 5000/1
