Even though Italy's top footballers are currently in South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup to help the Azzurri win their second consecutive World Cup title, life goes on Italy and players are being traded ahead of the next
La Liga season.
For instance, AC Milan - who dazzled last season to win the coveted treble including the Coppa Italia, Serie A and the 2009-10 UEFA Champions League - announced this week that they have sold goalkeeper
Marco Storari to Serie A rivals, Juventus.
And to fill the hole left by Storari, AC Milan has signed a deal with Genoa that will see goalkeeper, Marco Amelia, sent to Milan on loan. The club also released veteran goalkeeper Dida last season, while it is hoping Christian Abbiati will be its star keeper.
That is, of course, assuming Abbiati has fully recovered from a career-threatening knee injury he sustained in March 2009. If this is the case, Abbiati is expected to be AC Milan's chief goalkeeper with Amelia his more than capable second in command.
Juventus, meanwhile, gave former manager Alberto Zaccheron, the boot after the Serie A side finished seventh in the premier Italian league. He has been replaced by ex-Sampdoria manager, Luigi Del Neri, who is expected to kick the team into shape.
The club also seems eager to bolster its attacking game which is why it is reportedly in negotiations to sign forward Jorge Martinez of Catania. Martinez helped lead Catania to a record points total in Serie A and a 12th place finish in last season's table.
And according to the rumour mill, if English Premier League side Arsenal gets its way, Serie A could lose top Fiorentina midfielder, Riccardo Montolivo, a player the London club would love to see sporting its red Gunners uniform come next season.
