Novelty Wimbledon Markets Open At Bookie Sites

by Renee Israel

Novelty bets have opened on Wimledon at Paddy Power

It's Wimbledon time again, and no doubt players will be complementing their World Cup betting activities with a flutter on tennis bets as well.

Paddy Power, one of the leading online bookie sites, has opened a market for Wimbledon - as have the majority of UK facing sports betting sites - and has also added a unique section devoted to novelty bets.

The Queen features prominently in this section, providing for some interesting bets.

Will Her Majesty attend the Men's Singles final? Odds of 8/1 are offered that she will.

Odds widen considerably in other bets including the chances of her getting hit by a stray ball, heaven forbid, at 100/1 or the Queen dozing during a match (also 100/1).

Will one of the Queen's beloved corgis run loose on the court? You can try out your luck with odds of 250/1.  And if you think the Queen will catch a ball during play, bet on odds of 500/1.

Moving to the players themselves, bets are being offered at 40/1 that Andy Murray will receive a code violation for obscenities or use of abusive language during the Wimbledon tournament.

In the outright betting segment, Paddy Power has odds of 7/4 that Roger Federer will win the men's title at Wimbledon, with Rafael Nadal carrying odds of 15/8.

In the women's section, Serena Williams is a favourite to take the title at odds of 15/8, while her sister, Venus has odds of 11/4.

Paddy Power has odds on the finalists in the men's competition as follows:

Any other combination  10/11

R Federer & R Nadal 2/1

R Federer & A Murray 11/2

R Federer & R Soderling 9/1

L Hewitt & R Nadal 22/1
