It was only moments after the final whistle of the disastrous World Cup game between England and Germany, that William Hill had already sent out a press release regarding the future of Fabio Capello.
Germany humiliated England with a 4-1 win, saving bookies a potential fortune.
There seems to be no question about the fact (in bookie eyes anyway) that Capello is on his way out as head of the English side.
The question right now is who will replace him.
"We go 1/3 that the next England manager will be English," said a spokesperson for William Hill, Graham Sharpe. "At least, if he isn't, let's hope he can speak English."
These scathing comments echoed the sentiments felt by the majority of English soccer fans, looking for a scapegoat for their anger and disappointment after the defeat.
Odds at 7 to 4 have been offered that Spurs coach Harry Redkapp will become the next England boss.
"William Hill alone would have been at least £7 million worse off as a result of England winning the World Cup," said the group. "It was the result we feared, but it now appears that patriotic punters fell for Fabio Capello's unfounded optimism that England would somehow produce form they had never showed at any other time and manage to win the World Cup."
William Hill continued: "As a result, the bookmaking industry was staring down the barrel of its biggest payout ever of over £50 million. Even the disallowed goal now looks like a hollow excuse after England's abject collapse in the second half and we are now optimistic that Fabio will have the decency to quit."
Odds on the next permanent manager on the English team:
Harry Redknapp - 7/4
Roy Hodgson 7/2
Stuart Pearce 7/1
Martin O'Neill - 10/1
Jose Mourinho 12/1
