Bayern Munich is hoping that the Dutch football federation will grant the club compensation over what they believe was wrongdoing by the Dutch national team.
One of Bayern's star players, winger Arjen Robben joined his native Dutch team at the World Cup with a torn left hamstring.
Despite the injury, Dutch medics determined that he was fit enough to play in the World Cup. Although he sat out on the first two games, Robben went on to play in every single game after that.
However, after the World Cup, Robben returned to Bayern Munich with the same injury, putting a dampening on the team's chances in Bundesliga - the German League.
Bayern Munich coach, Luis van Gaal, fumed at the weekend that Robben had reported back to this team for Bundesliga pre-season training with the torn hamstring, and charged that the Dutch coach had not done enough to protect the player.
"Every player wants to play a World Cup," he said. "He'll do anything to make it happen. That's why we have a coach and a doctor, to protect the player. It's the job of the coach and very much so of the doctor - and it wasn't done."
Van Gaal, who is also Dutch, said that he had called the player a number of times during the soccer event in South Africa to warn him not to play with an injury.
He confirmed that the winger had fluid drained from his hamstring every few days during the World Cup and that "everyone knew that he wasn't in good condition."
Despite playing without Robben, Bayern added the Super Cup to their Bundesliga double with a 2-0 win over Schalke 04 on Saturday.
